Description

Kreg Straight Edge Guide XL (KMA4700). This is an aluminum 8 ft straight edge that helps you make perfectly straight cuts on entire sheets of plywood. The finest and safest way to process big plywood sheets!!

This item's features include:

• Crosscut and rip cut material up to 8 ft (but you can shorten it to 4 ft, too)
• Cut indicator arms can be matched to your saw to position cuts
• Built-in clamping mechanism
• Left- and right-blade circular saw compatible
• Jigsaw and router compatible

This item comes with an allen key to convert the length of the straight edge.

Intended Uses

Used to guide cutting to make perfectly straight cuts in sheet goods. Process sheets of plywood that are up to 8 ft, making perfectly straight cuts every time.

When used with the foam backer boards, this is hands down the easiest, safest way to cut whole sheets of plywood by yourself. Believe.

Special Instructions

This item is looooooong (over 8 ft) so plan on maybe breaking it down to transport it :)

If you are using the plastic indicator arms (highly recommended!), remember to retract them out of the way before you actually begin sawing or you will likely cut them off!

Instructions

Calibrate the cutline indicator arms to the saw you're using (highly recommended!). While you don't have to use the indicator arms–you can measure out the footprint of your saw each time you make a cut–using the indicator arms will save you a ton of time and headache! It's next to impossible to explain how to calibrate it in writing, so here are three excellent options:

1. Ask your friendly tool librarian to demonstrate it on our table, here at the library!
2. Read (and see pictures) pages 8-10 in the owner's manual.
3. Watch the video we've linked to starting at minute 2.

To shorten (or lengthen) the length of the straight edge, simply use the onboard allen key to loosen (or tighten) four of the eight the set screws on the connector bars. Reattach the end handle as needed. Ask your friendly tool librarian for guidance and demonstrations if needed, or check out page 5 of the owner's manual.
