If you can't be bothered to read or watch "ESD Is Not a Venereal Disease" by the awesome people who make this item (we link to both, below) here's the basic set-up:

1. Remove any rings and bracelets you may be wearing!
2. Unfold the mat on your working surface
3. Connect the wire lead (has the button) to your mat and the alligator clip to the nearest metal thing to your work surface
4. Put on the wrist strap and connect the (wire lead) alligator clip to the edge of the mat
5. You are now "geek chic" and ready to bust that smartphone open!
